More home and business owners are migrating from POTS lines to cellular networks, VoIP, cell phones and other digital communications technology. And with analog phone networks dwindling, security alarm dealers and integrators must adapt to the digital wave to remain competitive.
CTS uses Honeywell’s line of Global Satellite for Mobile Communication (GSM) solutions can send alarm signals via redundant dual and triple path communications. Honeywell’s standard GSM radio uses General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Short Message Service (SMS) to transmit signals, while the company’s iGSM radio integrates the Internet for increased reliability and enhanced features such as Total Connect remote control via a computer Web browser or other Web-enabled device.

Security systems are designed to safeguard homeowners and businesses, but lately it's often the security system companies themselves that need protection.
State officials say scam artists – usually unlicensed high school and college students – spend their vacations going door to door offering new monitoring contracts and alarm installations. In some cases, the homeowner is left paying for two separate alarm systems, or a system that may not work at all.
The past few summers, areas have seen a dramatic influx of untrained or student salesmen. The problem is germane to all major cities. Summer sales programs can pose "a danger to the public," because unlicensed sellers haven't undergone the criminal background check that a license requires.
Someone who might be a convicted felon might be going door to door, asking where the valuables are kept, so always ask for credentials.
CTS is advising all homeowners and business owners to ask the sales representatives for a valid local phone number and proof of state or county license number as well as a BASA/FASA card which is required to sell or install a security or fire system, the absence of which may indicate the seller is unlicensed. Do not be fooled by slick unprofessional tactics from these con-artists saying things like; "Your system may be out of date" or "Let me check to see if you are really monitored" while having you give them access to your security system. If you are approached by one and have concerns ask for a business card and tell them you will call to schedule an appointment at a later date, then call to verify their credentials before letting them in your home or business. Your safety is foremost our concern call now for a free security evaluation from a licensed and trained professional with your security and safety in mind.
